Instead of just telling your followers about your favorite new song, why not let them to hear it? Luckily, Spotify’s Play Button makes it super easy to share whatever you want, wherever you want – including on your blog or website. All you have to do is press play.

This only affected 1+ monitor users + Windows (Store or exe) + 'Show taskbar buttons on Taskbar where window is open'. For 890 days, Spotify fucked around. Notable threads: Desktop Spotify's taskbar icon on the wrong monitor every single time (dual monitors) (fixed their shithole CEF libraries).
- The tray is the area of your taskbar on the right side, just left of the clock. If there is no Spotify icon there, click the little triangle and it will show up in the full list, if Spotify is currently running. If you right click on the tray Icon, there should be an option that says 'Hide from taskbar when closed'.
- The desktop app doesn't support the media mouseover buttons like windows media player has. The windows API for adding taskbar mouseover controls is trivially simple. I would really apprecate the ability to mouse over the taskbar icon and see the album cover, current track name, duration, current position and most imporantly, Play/Pause next.
- When quitting Spotify in Windows, you can’t just click the X at the top-right of the window like you usually do when quitting many other programs. This action only minimizes the Spotify window; it doesn’t shut down Spotify itself, which continues to show up in the taskbar in the background.
Here’s how to do it.
What Play Button Does
Spotify’s Play Button is like a mini player; simply click to start streaming Spotify content anywhere online. Play Button transfers Spotify content – albums, tracks, artists, playlists, and now podcasts, too – to your website or social page, making it easy for anyone already logged into Spotify to start listening immediately. If they’re not logged in, Play Button will play a 30-second preview, then prompt the user to log in or sign up.
How to Add Play Button

Right-click any song, album, artist, playlist or podcast in the Spotify app and select “Share.” Click on “Copy Link” or “Copy Spotify URI” to copy the Spotify Link or URI. (Or use a shortcut and embed the code directly from the desktop app’s “Copy Embed Code.”)
- Paste into the Play Buttongenerator.
- Copy and paste the embed code into your website.
- And voila!

How to Use Play Button
Just hit play! Play Button streams and navigates just like the Spotify app you already know and love, just in a different setting. It will also pick a background color based on the album or podcast cover art, which we think is a pretty cool trick.
